I saved 65% On Lab Fees With AmeriPlan Health
July 1, 2008
Here’s the deal. I’m a pretty healthy guy. At least I’d like to think so. My wife had been bugging me for months that I need to go get a check up. You know… complete blood work, exams, the whole bit. I agreed with her like good husbands always do. Yes, dear. But I had no intention on doing it anytime soon.
See, to me going to the doctor when you don’t absolutely have to is like asking for trouble. You know how you can take your car in for a routine oil change and before you know it you need new rotors, transmission seals, an oil pan gasket, belts, hoses and a hemi-spherical rear axle proton manipulator. (huh)
You get my point. So I put it off as long as I could. Finally, I got to thinking what if… I’ve talked to thousands of people about AmeriPlan Health and I’ve had more people than I care to count call me “after” somethings happened to them. After they were transported to the emergency room. After they were admitted into the hospital. And I couldn’t do anything for them because it was “after” the fact.
I started wondering, as I always do, why, since they would save upwards of 50% on the exams and blood work… why didn’t they get AmeriPlan Health and just do it. Just get checked out. Maybe the doctor could have caught whatever was wrong with them before it got so ugly.
Yep. You guessed it. I started thinking about me. What the heck am I waiting for? That would be a tragic irony wouldn’t it. So I made the appointment and went. My visit was $45 and instead of paying $366 dollars for the blood work, I paid $121. Yeah baby!!!!
How did I do it. I’ll let Fred Gobbs tell you about his story. We both took the same steps to make it happen. Take away Fred…
“My existing insurance would not cover my annual physical examination now would it cover any of the lab work which comprised of a total of 7 tests of which the cost was going to be $984.00 I forwarded the required tests to Medstat and over the phone they quoted me $297.00 I paid it with my credit card, they faxed me the form I needed to carry to the lab after setting the appointment, my wait was less than 20 minutes! The lab sent the reports to Medstat, they faxed them to me and my doctor and I was thrilled! That was a savings of $651.00 and I have insurance that I couldn’t use! -Fred Gibbs, SRSD
